Can kidney disease patients exercise?

Patients with kidney disease can do light exercises such as cycling, swimming, aerobics and walking 3-4 days a week, depending on their health conditions.In case of kidney failure, various toxins-harmful substances accumulate in body and these substances immediately affect functioning of whole organs and systems in negative way. Most of the time excess amount of salt and water occurs and this puts strain on heart.

Sport and exercise provide benefits not only for healthy people but also people with various diseases. For instance; cardiovascular disease, lung disease, neurological disease, etc.

In a similar way, exercise programs contribute body and soul health in positive way in those with chronic kidney disease, dialysis patients and kidney transplant patients. For example, it is determined  that doing exercise on bicycle three times a week for few months, enhance muscle strength, general situation and also increase in walking speed.
